Helping Out

I usually don't have any appointments on Mondays, so that day works out best to be my big cleaning/laundry day. I've been trying to think of ways to get Joshua and Abigail involved in the cleaning process without letting them get near the cleaning chemicals. Here are a few pictures of them cleaning baseboards with baby wipes! It's a perfect job for them...right on their level and they think it's fun (for now anyway!). If anyone has any other suggestions of ways to include toddlers in the cleaning I'd love to hear them!

Valentine's Day

We don't do much for Valentine's Day...everything is so overpriced and all of the restaurants are crowded. Abigail and I did stop by the grocery store on the way home from choir rehearsal last night and picked up some ice cream. Ice cream is good for anything! The Grandpas and Grandmas like to send/give us things for Valentine's Day and that's fun. Here are a couple of pictures of the kids enjoying some surprises!

Happy Birthday Joshua!

Today is Joshua's 3rd birthday!! I'll follow the examples of Tami and Joy and tell you 3 things about Joshua that I love.

1. He's my firstborn! I love all of my babies equally, but there's just something about the firstborn that can't be duplicated!

2. He's sweet, but he's definitely a boy. He likes to love on his sisters but he likes to play cars and airplanes and tractors and all those boy things too.

3. He's thoughtful and compassionate. He's concerned about other people and what they are feeling. Today when I was getting my blood pressure taken at the midwife's office he patted me the whole time and told me that it was okay and that I would feel better soon! He's always asking me if my baby is okay. :-)

Here's a picture of us with our boy!

More birthday pictures to come later!

Flips

Not much out of the ordinary has been going on here. Yesterday was beautiful and Adam took Joshua and Abigail to the park while Esther and I went to choir rehearsal. Joshua has been talking about his birthday a lot lately...he'll be 3 on Monday! The other day he looked at Adam and said "What did you do with my birthday, Papa? Where did you put it?". I guess he things we've forgotten about it! We're having a little party for him on Saturday. Grandpa and Grandma Evans are coming with a John Deere tractor cake and Uncle Mark and Aunt Amanda are coming too (of course with Baby Evans, who is due in 3 weeks!).

I've been trying to read to the children more. Adam reads to them in the evenings just before bed and read to them fairly often but randomly. I haven't had a scheduled reading time every day, but I'm going to try to start one. We just started "The Bronze Bow" before naptime. Hopefully I can keep up with it...it's tempting to put them in bed and hurry to get things done (or take a nap myself!).

I've been feeling pretty well. Most days I have a lot of energy and am not even tempted to take a nap, but some days it's like I'm back in the first trimester again! I haven't gained any weight yet, but I am starting to grow. My skirts and pants are getting tight...I'll have to break out my rubber bands soon! I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions already! I especially notice them when I'm at the Y exercising, but I'll also have them randomly throughout the day. I've heard that you can get them earlier with each pregnancy, but I wasn't expecting to be feeling them at 16 weeks...it's especially funny because I don't even look pregnant yet! I haven't felt the baby move yet though. They say it's usually around 20 weeks, but I think it's normal to feel it earlier after the first pregnancy. Anytime now...I'm ready!

Here are a few pictures of Joshua and Abigail playing with Papa. On the nights that Adam gets home late they run around getting their toys cleaned up and teeth brushed before he comes in hopes that they can "climb on Papa". They love to flip...as you can see in the pictures!
