Sprinkler Fun

I set up the sprinkler after naptime this afternoon and the children had lots of fun playing in it! They're not at all excited about water - they're terrified of being taken into a swimming pool, but we're working on that. It took them a little while to warm up to the sprinkler, but they eventually started to enjoy it. Esther was the fastest. She looked at it for just a few minutes and them jumped right in! Abigail really likes to wear her bathing suit (except she can't remember what it's called. Today it was a "shopping suit" and a "washing suit"!).

I'm feeling pretty good. I'll be 36 weeks on Thursday...only 4 weeks to go, give or take a couple of weeks! I've been having random Braxton-Hicks contractions since my first trimester, but they've really picked up in the last few weeks. I hope they're doing something! Joshua and Abigail like to tell us what they think we should name the baby. It changes almost daily, but Joshua's favorite boy names are Joseph and Zaccheus and Abigail's favorite boy names are Graeme (that's their cousin's name) and Abigail! Neither of them have volunteered any names for a girl yet. Maybe that means we're having a boy!

Here are a few pictures!

34 Week Update

I had every intention of posting a 32 week pregnancy picture and I never did it. So here's a 34 1/2 week picture! I had a doctor's appointment today and everything looks good. Baby is head down and very active! I gained another two pounds...that puts me up to 22lbs total. I'd like to stay around 30, so I seem to be on track. My hemoglobin was better today and I haven't been feeling quite as tired. I haven't been having a bit of trouble sleeping at night either, which is wonderful! I am very blessed to have easy pregnancies. My only troubles this time around are my varicose veins (and having to wear compression hose all the time) and a little bit of swelling in my ankles as of last night. Definitely nothing to complain about!

I had to include this one of me and my funny little Abigail. She wanted her tummy to be in the picture too!

Girls

I just had to post these two pictures of our sweet girls. Esther was walking around yesterday with this bicycle helmet on singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" at the top of her lungs. She doesn't actually sing the words, of course...just "na, na, na". :-)

And here's Abigail with her new package of "big girl pants". I told her that if she could keep her training pants dry for a whole week then we would go to Walmart and buy her some new big girl pants. She was very excited about them, as you can tell! She's been a breeze to potty train compared to Joshua! I've heard that girls are easier than boys, but I didn't expect it to be this much easier. I finally got Joshua completely trained (nighttime and all) just before he turned 3. Abigail just turned 2 in March and she's day-trained and almost naptime-trained. We've got a little more work to do before she's out of diapers at night, but I'm very happy with her progress! Two of my biggest goals before the baby arrives were to have Esther walking and Abigail potty trained. We did it with 6 weeks to go! Maybe I should add something else...:-)

Quick Update

I thought I'd get a quick update in and a few pictures posted before naptime is over! We've been busy taking care of sick babies. Joshua and Abigail are better, but I took Esther to the doctor today and she has Roseola. She started with a fever on Saturday morning and then got a rash all over her body...there's more red than white. It looks pretty awful and is uncomfortable for her. She's on the upswing now though. The doctor said that it's not harmful to her but that it can possibly be to pregnant women! It almost never causes problems after the first trimester though, so we're thankful for that. As long as I feel fine and the baby is moving a lot there's no reason for concern.

Here are a few pictures. We have a little friend who was born a week after Esther, and Joshua got to ride a horse at her 1st birthday party! He really enjoyed it. Abigail didn't want to get near the horse. Her only comment was that he had a big nose! We went to visit my grandmother in Atlanta last Friday and the last picture is of the children on our way home.

Esther is Walking!

Esther started walking this past weekend! It's not her primary mode of locomotion yet, but it will be soon. She's our earliest walker so far at 12 months! Joshua and Abigail both walked at 15 months. I was hoping that Esther would walk before the baby comes since it's rather hard to carry around a newborn and a toddler!

Here are a few pictures of her in action. (She's wearing a dress that my Mom made for me when I was Esther's age!)

Under the Weather

We've had sort of a rough week here. I took Esther in for her 12mo well-check. She has an ear infection and Joshua has an eye infection (which he appears to be passing to me, Abigail and Esther) and all three kids have runny noses and coughs. And I've got some sort of horrid illness. I finally called my doctor yesterday and he called in some antibiotics for me, so hopefully those will start working soon. Thankfully it hasn't been a very busy week, so I've been able to rest a good bit. I'm also very thankful that none of us have a stomach bug. I think that's just the worst type of sickness to have and to clean up, especially when you're pregnant! Adam is taking good care of me. He made dinner last night and got the kids up this morning and let me sleep. I think he'll be taking care of dinner tonight too...Chinese take-out sounds good to me!

Esther weighs 19lbs and is 28in long (25th percentile)! Not quite as much as I expected. I thought she'd weigh as much as Abigail, but I think she just feels like she does because she's short and stocky and Abigail is thin and petite. Abigail only weighs 23 lbs. Poor thing...she's going to be wearing Esther's hand-me-downs before too long!

This morning while I was laying on the couch with a splitting headache Joshua and Abigail were running around the living room squealing and banging on the piano and talking constantly (which I normally like hearing, but it wasn't doing a thing for my headache!). I told them that my head hurt and asked them to play quietly and Joshua came over, laid his head on my big tummy, and said "Mama, I'm sorry that you make yourself sick"! And then Abigail, not to be outdone by Joshua, laid her head on my tummy too and said "Mama, sorry you got you-self a pickle"! I think she meant "in a pickle"! Of course then I started laughing, which made my head hurt even more!

I'm 32 weeks now - only 8 more to go! I feel really good, besides the occasional backache and my vericose veins, which is a very small price to pay for a sweet baby! I'm starting to get used to wearing my compression hose. They really do cut down on the pain in those veins and I can tell when I don't wear them. I'll try to post a belly picture next week when I don't feel and look so yucky!

Here are a few random pictures for now.
